Hi! I’m Summer. My journey into speech therapy began in college when I was on the swim team with a teammate who had Microtia, which caused hearing loss in her right ear. Because of this, she had a slight lateralized lisp. She was studying to become a speech therapist so she could help others with hearing loss—but at the time, I was still an undecided major.

One day, she asked if I had noticed her lisp. We spent the evening working on her speech, and I guided her through how to adjust her articulators. By the end of the night, she had made noticeable progress. When she went home, her mom immediately heard a difference and was incredibly grateful for the help. That experience was so meaningful to me—it sparked a passion I didn’t want to let go of. The very next week, I began my undergraduate studies in speech-language pathology.

I’ve since worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, schools, and home health. I’m currently working toward PROMPT certification, which focuses on using tactile cues to support children with apraxia.

My clinical approach is functional and highly individualized, with a strong focus on what matters most to each person and their family.
