Lauren Farina
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
About me
Hi! I'm Lauren. I became a speech-language pathologist (SLP) because of the impact a family friend with Rett syndrome has had on my life. I had the privilege of babysitting an amazing child whose vibrant personality shined through, even though her ability to speak was limited...or so I initially thought. As I spent more time with her and her family, I began to see how much she had to say. I was introduced to alternative ways of communication like gestures, eye-gaze, partner-assisted scanning, and AAC devices. This experience opened my heart to the field of speech-language pathology. I felt called to this work, inspired by the words in Proverbs 31:8a: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” It is a true blessing to be part of a profession that allows me to do just that: advocate for others, and help them find their voice. I have worked in public schools and have trainings and certifications in the following: AAC LAMP WFL trainings, AAC Tobii Dynavox Eye-Gaze Device trainings, Gestalt Language Processing courses, and Aided Language Stimulation courses. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, and individualized/personalized.
