Lauren Bernick
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
Hi, I’m Lauren! I became a speech-language pathologist because I’m passionate about helping people communicate more confidently and feel more connected to the world around them. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is building meaningful relationships with clients and families while supporting them through their communication journey.
I’ve worked with both pediatric and adult clients across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings, supporting individuals with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. I especially enjoy counseling and educating families and caregivers so they feel empowered to support communication outside of therapy sessions.
I’m passionate about cognitive communication and brain injury rehabilitation and have developed and led support groups for brain injury survivors, stroke survivors, and caregivers to help foster connection and community. In addition to clinical work, I serve as an adjunct professor at Emerson College, where I teach graduate courses in Clinical Methods and Cognitive Communication Disorders.
I’m trained in the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile and have presented at conferences hosted by the Brain Injury Association of America and the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
My therapy approach is holistic, family-centered, and compassionate, grounded in collaboration, empowerment, and meaningful functional progress.
