About me

Hi! I'm Katherine. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2021. Growing up I had always wanted to be in a profession that allowed me to interact highly with others. Upon going to school I realized that speech pathology was a great option. After shadowing over Christmas break my freshman year of college, I realized it was the profession for me! I have taken a great interest in the correlation between mental health and aphasia in adults. After working in a nursing home I realized just how crucial it is to ensure communication with others and how that directly impacts mental health. I have been taking CEUs to gain a better grasp on my role in this issue. I also have been interested in learning more about how to treat children with trauma who have communication disorders. Specifically, how I can become a better advocate for them. I have taken courses pertaining to this subject as well. In college I taught a American sign language course at the University of Mississippi and absolutely loved it. I have worked with a variety of populations including pediatrics, swing bed hospital, long term care and rehabilitation, and outpatient clinic. I would describe my clinical style as rooted in client empowerment by creating self-advocates.

Katherine is absolutely amazing and a joy to work with. (My child) looks forward to our sessions. I appreciate Katherine's patience to explain (my child's) current struggles, the anatomy of the issue, and multiple solutions and plans to get (my child) ready.
