Kate Koval
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.H.S., CCC-SLP)
About me
Hi! I'm Kate. I became a speech-language pathologist (SLP) because I wanted to help people. In 2014 my father was in an accident and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. Shortly after that, my son began to receive SLP services for a language delay. I was introduced to the field of speech-language pathology through being a caretaker for my loved ones. After almost 20 years in the nonprofit field, I decided to change careers. Once I learned that SLPs weave together aspects of neuroscience, psychology, physiology, and linguistics, I became completely immersed in the field and never looked back. Because communication is such an integral part of the human experience, I think I have an extremely important and very cool job! I have worked in settings such as home health, hospital/acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, therapeutic day school, and general and special education populations in the school setting. I would describe my clinical style as holistic, individualized/personalized, strengths-based, sensory integrated, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
