Jeannene Matthews

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.Ed., CCC-SLP)

Hi, I’m Jeannene! I became a speech-language pathologist (SLP) because I wanted to turn my love of language and speech science into meaningful, real-world support that helps people communicate with confidence. I’m passionate about helping individuals use their voices in ways that feel authentic, functional, and empowering.

I’ve worked across a range of settings, including schools, hospitals, research labs, and private practice. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on communication across contexts and strengthened my ability to provide individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each person’s needs and goals. I’m especially passionate about dialects, accents, and how communication differences shape everyday experiences in education, healthcare, and the workplace. I also enjoy helping individuals better understand their own speech patterns and build confidence in how they communicate across environments.

In addition to clinical work, I teach a college course on dialects and how accent variation influences social and professional experiences. This work reflects my commitment to education, advocacy, and increasing awareness around communication diversity.

My therapy approach is highly individualized, client-centered, and strengths-based, with an emphasis on functional communication, confidence-building, and supporting lifelong self-advocacy skills.
