April W. Johnson

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.Ed., CCC-SLP)

Accepts 31 insurance plans

Hi, I’m April! I became a speech-language pathologist because I love helping people connect with the people who matter most to them. There’s nothing more meaningful to me than supporting a client as they communicate with loved ones for the first time (or for the first time in a long time).

I’ve worked across acute care, outpatient pediatric clinics, teletherapy, elementary schools, and mobile swallow study units, supporting children and adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing needs. These experiences have strengthened my ability to provide compassionate, individualized care that is practical, functional, and tailored to each client and family.

I’m especially passionate about voice, swallowing, augmentative communication, and helping clients build meaningful connections through functional communication. I have extensive experience with LSVT LOUD, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and upper aerodigestive swallow assessment. In addition to clinical practice, I’ve served as an adjunct instructor for Phonetics and Clinical Methods, which deepened my passion for education, mentorship, and evidence-based care.

My therapy approach is client-centered and highly individualized, with an emphasis on functional outcomes, engagement, and supportive care. I also incorporate sensory integration strategies to support regulation and participation during therapy sessions.
