About me
Hi! I’m Tasha. I was introduced to the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders by one of my professors at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota after posing a series of largely unanswered questions about AAE and communication in autism. Those lingering questions then led me to the University of Kansas where I participated in the Communication and Autism Project and obtained a MA in communicative disorders. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher of some sort. I love working with and educating people one-on-one and being a speech-language pathologist allows me to do so in multiple settings. I feel a sense of accomplishment while helping individuals say words for the first time, improving a client’s ability to safely swallow, improving speech intelligibility, or implementing a low- or high-tech SGD to improve functional communication. I have treated individuals across the lifespan, worked in many different settings and treated many different diagnoses. In 2020 I received a Doctorate of Speech-Language Pathology. I continue to deepen my clinical expertise through advanced training and professional certification, including Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD) certification, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) rater certification, and ongoing professional involvement with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). These credentials support my ability to provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment and treatment across voice, cognitive-communication, and neurologically based disorders, ensuring that the care I deliver is both comprehensive and current. I have served individuals across the lifespan while working in preschools, elementary/middle/high schools, inpatient rehab hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), teletherapy, and home health settings. I approach therapy with a holistic, client-centered, functional, and highly individualized style. I incorporate routines-based and sensory-integration-informed practices to support meaningful carryover, and I prioritize family involvement, strengths-based strategies, and client empowerment to help each person build confidence, independence, and lifelong self-advocacy skills.
