Sara Laird
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
Hi! I’m Sara. I became a speech therapist because I was raised in a healthcare family and I wanted to go into a "helper" career. Instead of following in my parents' footsteps into nursing, I found interest in neuro-based and developmental communication disorders. I have been lucky enough to explore multiple parts of the field over my career and have focused most of my expertise in aphasia, early intervention, and clinical supervision.
My clinical experience spans diverse settings, including subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, home health, and early intervention. I am a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and trained to provide the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program and the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) for clients with Parkinson’s disease. I have completed additional training in Hanen More Than Words, Interactive Passy Muir Valve Tracheostomy/Ventilator Speaking and Swallowing, and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). This experience has allowed me to support a wide range of communication and swallowing needs.
My clinical approach is client-centered with an emphasis on strengths-based care and functional outcomes. My goal is to empower each person to build confidence, independence, and lifelong self-advocacy skills.
