About me

Leanne Sherred, M.S., CCC-SLP, is the Co-Founder, President, and Chief Clinical Officer of Expressable. As a speech-language pathologist, she has years of experience treating children and adults for communication differences and disorders in outpatient clinics, home health, and telepractice. In those settings, Leanne noticed that too many families struggled to access the care they needed. The traditional speech therapy model also made it challenging to help families practice their new skills between sessions, which research has shown is the most effective way to make progress. So Leanne decided to create a new model founded on research-based techniques that would better serve children and their families. Today, she oversees a team of talented speech therapists across the country who have the privilege of working with thousands of children and adults. Leanne’s deep expertise in speech, language, and child development has been featured in Parents, Mom.com, New York Family, Tiny Beans, and more, as well as on several podcasts. She is also a member of the Editorial Review Board for VerywellFamily.com. As Leanne explains it, “Communication is fundamentally human. It's how we connect, share with others, solve problems, express feelings, and on a basic level, how we let others know what we need. I grew up with an ear for accents, and followed my ears to the field of speech-language pathology. What I found was a career that allows me to help others grow, maintain, and regain a huge piece of themselves. I can't imagine putting my skills to use in any better way!”
