About me

Hi! I’m Joseph. I chose a career as a speech therapist because I have always wanted to help others. My interest in becoming a speech-language pathologist (SLP) began at a young age, when my mother suffered a stroke while I was four years old and received speech therapy services in the hospital. However, the most influential reason I pursued this path was meeting my uncle, who was on the autism spectrum, during a visit to Fiji. That experience inspired me to want to support him and to help provide services to individuals with communication needs throughout the Fiji Islands.. My clinical experience spans diverse settings, including public schools, non-public schools, and county programs. I have also completed the SPG AAC Mentorship, an advanced training program focused on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Through this mentorship, I strengthened my skills in assessing, selecting, and implementing both high-tech and low-tech communication systems to better support individuals with complex communication needs. I take a holistic, client-centered, and highly individualized approach to therapy. By integrating routines-based and sensory-integration-informed practices, I focus on supporting meaningful carryover of skills into daily life. I also prioritize family involvement, strengths-based strategies, and functional outcomes, helping each client build confidence, independence, and effective communication skills.
