About me

Hi! I'm Desiree. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) because I was drawn to the impact communication has in someone's life to feel connected and empowered. For me, becoming an SLP meant I had the opportunity to be part of a person's journey by providing them with life-altering services that impact both them and their loved ones This is what makes a career in speech-language pathology so rewarding. In addition, to be a service provider who can advocate for the voiceless or assist an individual to find their own voice, in the literal and rhetorical sense, is deeply fulfilling. I am honored to be in a career where I can believe, support, and serve people in who they are and where they have the potential to be. I have worked in private practices and daycares. I have certifications and trainings in the following: avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) trained, MoCA certified, and MBsimP trained. I was a research presentation speaker at FLASHA 2022 on "Reframing Therapy: Supporting Neurodivergent Clients." I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, individualized/personalized, strengths-based, sensory integrated, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.

Miss Desiree has been truly life-changing for our daughter, and we are incredibly grateful for her kindness, patience, and exceptional dedication. She has helped [our daughter] gain so much confidence, and the impact she’s had on our family means more than words can express.

Desiree is amazing. Regardless of my son’s mood and willingness to cooperate, her determination matches mine as his parent and that is the most priceless and valuable thing a parent could ever ask for in her child’s therapist. Thank you so much Desiree, we love you!!

I have been so excited to begin since the evaluation with Desiree. It was so nice to feel like my son is finally being understood to the point where I can actually obtain some useful insight on to help him grow into the boy I KNOW is in there. Thank you so much Desiree for taking the time with us to get to know and understand my son.

I appreciate the help this program has given us for our child. He has progressed in ways I never thought he would. The practices and the therapist are patient, interactive, and supportive.

Desiree has been an absolute pleasure, and she is amazing! She catches every little thing my daughter struggles with in speech, and gives her kind but firm corrections. Honestly, if she wasn't as amazing as she is, I was going to cancel after having 2 different speech therapists leave Expressable back to back only b/c its too much change for my 10 year old in such a short time. However, Miss Desiree completely changed my mind. She is the best thing to happen for my daughter's speech & I am so grateful for her!
