About me

Hi! I’m Cristen. I was drawn to the profession of speech therapy because I wanted to the opportunity to help children and adults make gains in their abilities to relate to others and express themselves. I enjoy the synthesis of science and clinical practice, creativity, and relationship building that is foundational to our field. I enjoy working with patients in individual and small group clinical settings. I have completed specialized trainings and attended conferences to better support children with speech and language challenges, including childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, and vocabulary development. I’ve also contributed to research on vocabulary interventions, helping me bring evidence-based strategies directly to the children and families I work with. My clinical experience spans diverse settings, including public schools (early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school), private practice, and teletherapy. I take a highly individualized approach to therapy. By integrating routines-based practices, I focus on supporting meaningful carryover of skills into daily life. I also prioritize functional outcomes, helping each client build confidence, independence, and effective communication skills.
