April Johnson
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
About me
Hello! I'm April. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) to serve others. I view it as a unique privilege to care for the needs of individuals and their families while empowering them to navigate the life changes that come with difficulties in communication, cognition, and/or swallowing. I endeavor to help people to see beyond the challenges of the diagnosis and gain confidence in their abilities. I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient (pediatric and adult), acute rehabilitation (adult), home health (pediatric), private practice (pediatric), skilled nursing, specialized autism school, and telehealth (pediatric). I am certified in Modified Barium Swallow Studies (Adult), Fiberscopic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (Adult), VitalStim Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (Adult), Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation (Adult), and Videostroboscopic Voice Evaluation (Adult). Overall, I would describe my therapeutic style as holistic, client- and/or family-centered, individualized/personalized, and rooted in client empowerment by creating self-advocates.

April is my therapist and she is fantastic. I have dysarthria due to the 3 strokes I have had. She is patient kind but yet still a perfectionist.
