About me
Hi! I’m Savara. I always knew I wanted to help people, especially children. I went into undergrad with an interest in psychology. I took my first linguistics course and fell in love. After my cousin was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 3, I knew I wanted to help children like him communicate to their fullest potential. I believe that communication is a right and language development is the most important skill a person can have. I have a passion for communication equity and want to continue to help others in this career. I have a certification in administering and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS), and I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Virginia on the topic of cultural competency and responsiveness within the speech pathology career. I have experience working with children and adults in the inpatient rehabilitation and elementary school settings. I take a client-centered and highly individualized approach to therapy. I also prioritize family involvement, strengths-based strategies, and functional outcomes, helping each client build confidence, independence, and effective communication skills.

My usually-shy and easily-perturbed teenager stayed engaged in answering a barrage of questions and walked away looking forward to starting his sessions!
