About me

Hi! I'm Mallory. My interest in the field began when I started babysitting for a neighbor who had autism when I was teenager. I was fascinated by him and began to really ponder what life would be like without the ability to effectively communicate. Several life experiences placed me in the path of incredible people with communication challenges, and it became clear to me that I needed to take a path that enabled me to work with these individuals on a daily basis. One of the best decisions I ever made! I have received trainings on the engagement model of learning and integrated therapy at the Siskin Institute in Chattanooga, TN. I have also received multiple trainings in AAC from Tobii Dynavox and from the AAT Conference. I am currently studying for my Assistive Technology Professional certification for RESNA. I have worked in settings such as skilled nursing facilities, schools, clinics, and home health. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, sensory integrated, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
