About me

Hi! I'm Kristy. Before becoming a speech-language pathologist (SLP), I was a preschool teacher for the Head Start Program in Puerto Rico. I loved being a teacher, and I loved to teach my preschool children. However, something that piqued my interest was my kids' communication and language difficulties. As a teacher, I couldn't do more for them, even if I wanted to. That motivated me to research, and I discovered the speech-language pathology master's program. Right then, I decided to pursue my studies in speech pathology. As soon as I graduated from the program, I moved to New York, where I worked for seven years in the early intervention (EI) setting with culturally and linguistically diverse families. I consider the EI setting fulfilling and challenging at the same time because we get to provide services not only to children, but also to their families through embedded coaching. I've taken courses and training to increase my knowledge and clinical skills, such as Introduction to Sign Language for Healthcare Professionals, Natural Language Acquisition in Autism: Echolalia to Self-Generated Language, Diagnosis and Treatment of CAS Using Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), A Three-Part Treatment Plan for Oral Placement Therapy, and Introduction to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy & Assessment. I have worked in settings such as early intervention (at home and via telehealth) and schools (via telepractice). I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, family-centric, routines-based, strengths-based, and sensory integrated.

Crysty Ramos is always so patient and good with (my partner). He seems to kind of enjoy what he’s learning and he does try.

Kristy is always very patient and kind with [my son]. I guess the only reason I gave it four was just because [my son] is not doing as much as we would like him to be doing. Not her fault. She is very patient and good with him. Very appreciated!

My 13-year-old son participated in virtual speech therapy sessions twice a week for 30 minutes over the past six months or so. During this time, he made noticeable improvements in his speech and communication skills. He now feels confident to continue developing on his own, thanks to the guidance and support provided. The therapist was patient, professional, and truly connected with my son, making the entire process smooth and encouraging. We are grateful for the progress he has made and would highly recommend their services!

I love the model that Expressable has. The progress notes and percentages let's me know exactly where my child is and areas that need more focus. I have seen significant improvement in just 2 months of using the service and am very happy with our progress.
