Kori Hixson

Hi, I’m Kori! I discovered speech-language pathology after exploring both occupational therapy and education and quickly realized it was the perfect blend of science, communication, and human connection. I’m passionate about helping individuals find the communication methods that feel most effective, authentic, and empowering for them.

I’ve worked across a variety of settings, including home-based therapy, private clinics, and school environments ranging from rural districts to urban public and charter schools. These experiences have helped me develop a flexible, individualized approach that supports clients with diverse communication needs across different environments and stages of development.

My continuing education has focused on orofacial myofunctional disorders, early language development, speech sound and phonological disorders, social communication, receptive and expressive language, and AAC. I’m especially passionate about advocacy, functional communication, and collaborative care, and I’ve also presented professional trainings on orofacial myofunctional disorders and interdisciplinary referral practices.

My therapy approach is client-centered, strengths-based, and highly individualized. I incorporate routines-based and evidence-based strategies while prioritizing family involvement, self-advocacy, and meaningful communication outcomes that support confidence and independence in everyday life.
