Kaylee Petro
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
About me
Hi! I’m Kaylee. I always knew I wanted to work in a field that helped people, so I looked into nursing and teaching. I was taking prerequisite courses, and my early childhood professor recommended I look into speech because, at the time, I hadn't heard of it as a career. Ultimately, I fell in love and have worked in the field as an assistant or full speech-language pathologist (SLP) since 2015! I continue to expand my clinical skill set through specialized coursework in areas such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), phonological disorders, and gestalt language processing. This ongoing training allows me to provide comprehensive, up-to-date care across a wide range of needs. I have experience working with children and adults in the outpatient clinic and elementary school settings. I take a client-centered and highly individualized approach to therapy. By integrating sensory-integration-informed practices, I focus on supporting meaningful carryover of skills into daily life. I also prioritize family involvement and functional outcomes, helping each client build confidence, independence, and effective communication skills.

Having observed multiple speech therapy intake evaluations over the past several weeks, this one was very well conducted even though it was not in person! My family member has expressive aphasia and other speech issues after multifocal strokes. The evaluation was well structured to identify where she has areas for therapy and what level of support she needs. The therapist provided positive feedback during the evaluation, which made it feel less daunting. During prior evaluations, my family member has left the evaluation feeling "incapable" - while she knew she didn't get everything right, she wasn't left with that sinking feeling.
