About me

Hi! I’m Kacia. As a 16 year old, I babysat my cousin Colton over the summer. As he began to talk, he only used vowel sounds. He was quickly enrolled in an intensive therapy program 4 days per week that included occupational, physical, and speech therapy. I was enthralled by how he quickly developed consonant sounds to go with his vowels and I was learning to understand his wants and needs much easier. Colton is now completing a doctorate in education. Colton is my "why!" I hold specialized training and certifications in Beckman’s Oral Motor Protocol, FEES and VFSS, VitalStim Adult, and kinesiology and sensory point taping for dysphagia. I am also trained in myofascial release and manual techniques for dysphagia, allowing me to support clients with complex feeding and swallowing needs. In addition to clinical practice, I have taught continuing education courses on topics including Cultural Competency, Developing a Successful School-Based Feeding Program, Mealtime Safety and School Transportation, and Mealtime Safety in the Educational Environment. I also developed a Mealtime Safety Program for a school district serving over 27,000 students, demonstrating my ability to design large-scale, practical interventions that enhance safety and quality of care. My clinical experience spans diverse settings, including Level 1 Trauma Hospitals, Home Health, Outpatient Clinics for Pediatrics and Adults, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Schools, and Teletherapy. I approach therapy with a client-centered, functional, and highly individualized style. I incorporate routines-based practices to support meaningful carryover, and I prioritize family involvement, strengths-based strategies, and client empowerment to help each person build confidence, independence, and lifelong self-advocacy skills.

Love our speech therapy sessions! My daughter is doing well and it gives me a chance to also engage in therapy with her.
