About me

I have a background in Literature and Theater studies, music, and a strong interest in languages. While I was studying Theater, I worked for a woman who was working on her PhD in Speech Language Pathology. Later, when I went back for a teaching degree, and she had become the chair of the Speech Language Pathology department, she recruited me, pointing out that the SLP profession would tie together all of the things I was interested in. I was hooked from my first class! I love that being an SLP is both an art and a science, and that there is always something new to learn. I am so thankful to have a profession that enables me to focus on people, and making a tangible difference in their lives.

She is very encouraging and understanding, and she motivates me to work hard on myself.

I can say without a doubt that Amanita changed my life for the better and I now feel much more comfortable and confident with talking in my daily life. Due to unpleasant experiences in the past with speech therapists growing up, I was initially hesitant when reaching out to Expressable to schedule a consult as an adult in my late twenties, but Amanita was very helpful even from that first appointment in recognizing my lateral lisp and devising ways to help me correct it. She was super patient and friendly, always provided positive feedback as well as constructive criticism, and adapted exercises to meet my needs. I can't thank her enough for the tremendous impact she's had in improving my life.

Amanita really cared for my needs. And the variety of techniques and approaches she used helped me in learning something new every time as well as keeping it fun.

Amanita was incredibly patient with our boys. In the beginning they didn’t love the lessons but she was able to divert, play some fun learning games and get them attentive.
