Let your speech therapist know ahead of time about toys, games, and activities that your child enjoys, as well as their hobbies and interests. Your therapist will try to use these in your child’s sessions to keep them engaged.
Your speech therapist will share a full evaluation report based on their clinical observations. This includes any formal diagnosis, recommended session frequency, and a full treatment plan with goals that you'll be working on each week so you can track your child's progress.
A speech therapy evaluation is the first step to starting treatment. An evaluation is performed to assess your child’s overall communication function, identify strengths and deficiencies, make a formal diagnosis, determine whether ongoing treatment is warranted, and more.
Evaluations can vary on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature of the disorder. Your speech therapist may use a series of structured tests, clinical observations, and simple activities during the evaluation to assess your child’s communication skills.
Your speech therapist will often ask your child questions targeting specific language abilities, and work to better understand how your child communicates in real-life situations. Finally, they may ask clarifying questions to better understand your child’s medical history and development.
You should receive an introductory text message from your speech therapist shortly! This is how you can communicate with your speech therapist in between sessions and throughout the week.
While this will look like a simple text message on your end, please note that we use a secure, HIPAA-compliant texting platform so all your information remains private.

No problem! You can text your speech therapist directly to find another suitable time for the evaluation. We ask that you please notify your speech therapist as soon as possible so they can accommodate your desired time.
Life happens! And while consistent attendance to speech therapy is one of the most important factors in ensuring your child's success, we understand that you may need to cancel or reschedule a session on occasion.
We simply ask that you do your best to notify your speech therapist at least 12 hours in advance if you can't attend a scheduled session. Your speech therapist will work with you to find a convenient time to make up the session if possible.
Please know that your speech therapist puts in a lot of work planning and preparing for each speech therapy session. In accordance with our attendance policy, there is a $20 fee if you cancel a session with less than a 12 hours notice AND do not reschedule that session, as well as a $50 fee if sessions are missed completely with no advance notice to your speech therapist.
