About me

Hi! I’m Stacey. I became a speech therapist because as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to help other people in need and take care of people. It is innate and a core part of my being. As I journeyed through higher level education, I began to search for a niche area of Special Education where I could make more of a difference and still afford to independently take care of myself and a potential family some day. My University of Central Missouri counselor suggested I look at Speech-Language Pathology and as they say, "that's all she wrote!" I am passionate about working with children in Early Intervention and have spent the majority of my career supporting infants and toddlers and their families. My clinical interests include pediatric dysphagia, labial and lingual frenulum ties, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, autism, visual impairments, and supporting infants transitioning home from the NICU or PICU. I speak Spanish and use American Sign Language (ASL) at a conversational level similar to that of a 3–6-year-old child. A unique aspect of my work in Early Intervention has been the opportunity to collaborate closely with nursing staff and hospital teams while providing services in children’s homes. This interdisciplinary experience has strengthened my ability to support medically complex children and their families during important transitions in care. My clinical background spans a variety of settings, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, elementary, middle, and high schools, Early Intervention (Birth to 3), and teletherapy. I have pursued extensive continuing education throughout my career, including trainings in DIR Floortime, Hand in Hand parenting approaches, sensory-based feeding, orofacial myology, and behavior support. I have completed specialized virtual training in orofacial myology with Mary Billings, as well as ongoing coursework in NICU and post-NICU care, dysphagia across the lifespan (including sensory-related feeding differences), and gender-affirming voice care. To further deepen my clinical practice, I am currently in the process of obtaining my California Teaching Credential as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I approach therapy with a client-centered, functional, and highly individualized style. I incorporate routines-based practices to support meaningful carryover, and I prioritize family involvement, strengths-based strategies, and client empowerment to help each person build confidence, independence, and lifelong self-advocacy skills.
