Elizabeth Forgey Stafford
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S., CCC-SLP)
About me
Hi! I'm Elizabeth. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) to support children and adults similar to my younger brother, who was a late language learner when he was young. His caring, passionate SLP inspired me to look closer into the healthcare professions when I was in high school. This memory, my want to make a positive impact on other people's lives, and my love for all aspects of communication when obtaining my bachelor's and master's degrees really drew me to this profession. I have a certificate in providing Early Intervention services in Virginia Preschool/School-Age Fluency Certificate, and Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding training. I also completed another SOS course to address feeding concerns from age 6 months to 16 months of age, Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) Approach training, Dynamic Tactile Temporal Tactile Cueing (DTTC) certificate for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and CPR & First Aid. I have worked in settings such as outpatient, public schools, and skilled nursing facilities. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, routines-based, strengths-based, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.

I was appreciated the meeting with Elizabeth. She was clam with my son. I saw how generous she was to look at my son while he didn't pay attention. She focused and tried to catch up the words from my son in singe word he spoke. She gave me information and ideas for preparation in the next step.
