About me

Hi! I'm Stefanie. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2014. My motivation to become a Speech Language Pathologist is rooted in the power of language to transform and transcend. I believe in the profound virtues of communication on every platform and channel and its ability to empower individuals. From speaking and listening to reading and writing, effective communication is the cornerstone of a productive lifestyle. Enlightened by the knowledge that some individuals cannot participate in one or more of these processes - either due to anatomical or physiological difficulties, is what ultimately inspired me to join this field. By applying scientific knowledge and a keen appreciation for unique stories, identities, and challenges, I seek to empower people by expanding their capacity for connectivity. I earned an M.S. in Education while teaching taught High School English in New York City after I graduated from undergrad. As an SLP, I had a unique job at a private High School created for students whose educational needs could not be met via the city's Department of Education due to the nature of their individual profiles as learners. I provided intervention via 1:1 individual therapy, as Assistant Teacher in American Literature, and as Head Teacher in the subject of Writing as well as Public Speaking to classes of 6 or less students. I served as Adjunct Professor of NYU's course in Clinical Practicum I for their online graduate program for three semesters. I have worked in settings such as acute care, outpatient, clinics, private practice, schools (public, private, charter). I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, strengths-based, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
