About me

Hi! I'm Rachel. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2014. I have several members of my family who have been impacted by communication disorders and I grew up adapting my communication to support them. At some point I realized I was passionate about advocating for people who struggled to communicate their thoughts and feelings without support and I wanted to be that supportive person. I worked in settings such as: schools. I have received certifications and trainings in the following: Workshops/Conferences AAC By The Bay - April, 2023 ASHA National Convention, New Orleans, LO - Nov. 2022 Best Practices in AAC Assessment: Steps to Selecting Appropriate Communication Systems - Feb. 2023 Restorative Practices for Schools - Jan. 2023 California State University, Northridge (CSUN) Conference - March 2022 Oregon Speech and Hearing Association (OSHA) Spring Conference - March 2021 LAMP Words For Life Training - October 2020 Oregon Speech-Language and Hearing Association Conference - October 2019 Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) Training - March 2018 SETT Framework: Student Centered Approach to AC/AT Tools and Strategies - Dec. 2017 ASHA National Convention, Los Angeles, CA - Nov. 2017 Visually Impaired Students in the Classroom - Oct. 2017 Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Oct. 2016 SWIFT National Conference, Washington, D.C. - July 2016 ASHA National Conference, Denver, CO - Nov. 2015 Behavior Management Tips for SLPs in Educational Settings - Nov. 2015 Mental Health Disorders and the SLP - Oct. 2015 Self-Regulated Strategy Development to Support Spelling - Feb. 2015 SWIFT National Conference, Bend, OR - Oct. 2014 Courageous Conversations: Race in Education - Sept. 2014 Pacific University Symposium on Autism – June 2013 ASHA National Convention, Atlanta, GA – Nov. 2012 Childhood Apraxia of Speech: Practical Strategies for Successful Treatment – May 2012 Oppositional, Defiant, and Anger Issues – April 2012 PECS training, Level 1 – March 2012 How the Brain Forms New Habits: Why Willpower is Not Enough – Feb. 2012 ASHA National Convention, San Diego, CA – Nov. 2011 S.T.A.R.
