About me
Hi! I'm Lauren. I became a speech-language pathologist (SLP) because I have a passion for helping others communicate and more effectively connect with the world around them. As an SLP, I have had the privilege of serving pediatric and adult patients with a range of speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. I have served clients/patients in the acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings. Part of my job that I love most is counseling and educating clients' families and caregivers so that they can feel empowered to support their loved ones outside of therapy sessions. I have also developed and led support groups tailored toward brain injury survivors, stroke survivors, and caregivers. In these groups I work to foster a sense of community and alleviate feelings of loneliness. Outside of direct clinical care, I am an adjunct professor in the graduate program at Emerson College, where I teach Clinical Methods and Cognitive Communication Disorders. I am trained in the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile. I have also presented at the Brain Injury Association of America Conference (March 2023) and the New York State Speech Language and Hearing Association Convention (May 2024). In my practice, I use a holistic, family-centered approach. I strive to build meaningful, strong clinical relationships. I meet each new client with an open mind, kindness, and a sense of humor! The perseverance and dedication of my clients inspires me and challenges me to grow as a clinician and individual.
