About me

Hi! I'm Kayla. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2016. Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew I'd be helping others whether it'd be through my interests in dentistry, teaching or music. When I found the field of Speech Language Pathology in college, I knew this was the perfect culmination of using my passions for the benefit of others. My love for children, heart for family outreach and vision for accessibility and inclusion in spaces across the lifespan are my driving forces behind being an SLP. Communication access is a basic human right that I am committed to minimizing barriers and building bridges for in collaboration with individuals and families. This advocacy work is more than just clinical skill; it requires heart, respect and empathy for every person's lived experience. Being an SLP is a calling I feel privileged to answer by serving families across may different walks of life. I worked in settings such as: Private Practice and School-based Preschool through High School from moderate to extensive support needs. I have a specialization in autism from my participation in Project Common Ground, a personnel preparation grant project supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (Grant # H325K110326). This certificate was awarded on the completion of additional coursework, field experience, training and community outreach that provided a sound foundation for work effectively with diverse children on the autism spectrum from birth to 21 years across home, school and community settings. As neurodiversity affirming practices continue to shape my holistic service provision, my specialization means understanding sensory and motor needs, supporting client autonomy and honoring unique communication styles. I would describe my clinical style as family-centric, neurodiversity affirming, and rooted in client-empowerment to create self-advocates.
