About me

Hi! I'm Brenna. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2019. I became an SLP because finding a career of service and fulfillment was important to me. I believe communicating is a human right & becoming an SLP allowed me to help others access communication! At a young age my sister required speech services due to hearing loss. This was my first interaction with the field and immediately I was able to observe the impact it made by allowing my sister to connect, play, and communicate her wants and needs. As an SLP connecting with clients and families is important to me. I love being creative in the way I provide therapy by centering the patient's goals and daily life. Lastly, I LOVE the wide scope of practice in speech and language. As a life long learner this career allows me to turn the corner and learn something new daily & that I enjoy! I have attended the following courses and trainings: FEEDING: Catherine Shaker Pediatric VFSS, Pediatric Swallowing and Feeding, Joan Ardverson Evaluating Feeding and Swallowing Disorders in Infants & Children course, Baylor Scott White FEES course 2019, AUDITORY VERBAL METHODS: Carolina Summer Institute 2023 - 2 month course teaching evaluation and treatment centering Listening and Spoken Language Therapy, SCHOOLS: led trainings on AAC use and modeling with, *Upcoming - Currently orienting to craniofacial scoping and treatment, attending ILO Upper and Lower Airway Conference at the University of Pittsburg & Vanderbilt stroboscopy course this summer. I worked in settings such as elementary school & pediatric inpatient and outpatient. I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, and strengths-based.
