About me

I am told I spoke my first word at four months old and I’ve been a conversationalist ever since! I have always been in awe of the power of communication and the tremendous impact the ability or inability to express oneself can have on every aspect of a person’s life. I watched my grandfather’s ability to communicate deteriorate as he fought his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. I like to think we had a special connection, and I tried my best to meet him where he was, help ease some of the anxiety that came with knowing he could not understand or express himself as he once was able to by being a friendly and familiar face, and find ways to include him in conversation, because he deserved to feel heard and understood. That is how I feel when I work with my clients; I knew I wanted to be in a field where I could play a role in helping to shape those who need support to be the best communicators they can be.

Other interests

Growing up, I was very involved in community theater; I loved to be able to make others laugh or smile by performing. Although it’s been quite some time since I’ve been on a stage myself, I have a huge appreciation for the arts and love to watch a live show! Otherwise, you can find me with my nose in my book club’s latest pick, or finding a new trail to hike- bonus points if it happens to be in close proximity to a wine tasting! My favorite place to be though is with my husband and my two sweet boys. With a toddler and a baby, my hands are full, but so is my heart. Being a mom is the greatest love of my life!

As a parent, I like Amanda because she’s super smart and explains why she teaches a certain way. My son likes her because she’s engaging and nice.

She treats every facet of the issue. I had tounge thrust and she determined that I had a lot of tension in my Masseter, which was part of a clenching issue. After giving me exercises to help with the tension, she remarked that my situation sounded like TMJ and to discuss with my doctor. He determined that I did have it and we're treating it.
