About me

Hi! I'm Aleisha. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2017. I became an SLP because of how incredibly important and fascinating the functions of thinking, communicating, and eating/swallowing are! When given the task of choosing a major, it hadn't occurred to me that this was a field of study, or even considered a science. I knew that with this career choice, I would be able to learn immensely, use my prior skills, and make meaningful change in the lives of others. Plus, I knew that I would never get bored! I have taken courses in the following: tracheostomy and ventilation, fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), modified barium swallow study (MBSS), Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, Basic Life Support CPR, and a few others. I have taught courses in Diagnostic Methods & Practice in Speech-Language Pathology (Graduate Level), Clinical Practicum (Graduate Level), SLPA Supervision, and more. I have worked in the following settings: acute care hospitals (all units), acute care rehabilitation facilities, outpatient hospitals and facilities, skilled nursing facilities, schools, and SLP administration. My clinical style is holistic and client-centered, for ease of generalization and increased functional use of skills. I believe the outcomes of our time together are based on a partnered approach. I want my clients to feel as much a part of the clinical process as I am as the clinician. Teamwork makes the dream work! Usually, the more connected the client feels to the therapy, the more empowered they feel to use what we practice, outside of the sessions.

Aleisha is so attentive to my son and is able to easily recognize and respond to the ways in which he communicates without using words. She has a personality that is both graciously patient and wonderfully engaging. Her knowledge and insight are a blessing to us.

I feel like this therapist just gets us. Aleisha is very knowledgeable and has helped transform us tremendously as our past therapists wasn’t so great. I love the fact she gives a formula to go by and ensures I understand it and follows through. Couldn’t be more happier with my experience thus far…
