About me

Hi! I'm Rachel. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2015. I became an SLP because I believe communication is one of the most powerful tools that we have. It allows us to connect with others, express who we are, and navigate the world with confidence. It is my goal to help people build those skills in a way that supports not just communication, but also self-advocacy and independence. Whether it's a child learning to express their needs or an adult working to regain their voice, I feel grateful to support them in ways that can make day-to-day life a little easier and more fulfilling. While I don't have any formal certifications, I am passionate about continuing to grow as an SLP. I've enjoyed developing my skills through hands-on experience, particularly in areas like parent coaching for early language development, evaluating and creating evidence-based intervention plans for various speech sound disorders, making AAC implementation and practice more approachable and functional for families, and utilizing narrative-based interventions in my therapy sessions to target a variety of skills. I have primarily worked in the school setting, but also have experience in clinics and home health. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, family-centric, individualized/personalized, routines-based, strengths-based, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.

Other interests

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, trying new recipes, and bingeing a good TV show. I've recently taken up golfing and am still very much learning, but enjoying the process. I love spending time outdoors, whether it's a walk with my dogs, Sully and Belle, or exploring new places when I get the chance to travel. Most of all, I enjoy quality time with my husband and our two pups who definitely keep life interesting!
