About me

Hi! I'm Debbie. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 1989. When I was high school, had the opportunity to work in a rehab facility where there was PT, OT, and SLP services. I was going to college in the fall for PT, and was shadowing PT's at the clinic and doing odd jobs for everyone to help out. One day I was checking in a client , who now I know had Aphasia, was trying to say "good morning", but couldn't. He was frustrated but most of all embarrassed and sad. My heart broke. I realized at that moment how important communication was and when it is taken away, the emotional toll it takes. I began shadowing the SLP at the clinic and decided that I wanted to help people talk again. I've worked in multiple clinical settings including early intervention, hospital, pediatric outpatient clinic, home health, and university. I am FEES certified and SOS trained. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, strengths-based, and sensory integrated.
