About me

Hi, I’m Brenna, a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP). I chose this field because finding a career rooted in service and fulfillment was important to me. I truly believe that communication is a human right, and being an SLP has given me the opportunity to help others access that right. My first experience with speech therapy came when my sister needed services due to hearing loss. Even at a young age, I could see how powerful communication was—it allowed my sister to connect, play, and express her wants and needs. That early experience made a lasting impact and led me to this career. Connecting with clients and families is one of the most meaningful parts of my work. I love being creative in the way I provide therapy and strive to make sessions functional and centered around each person’s goals and daily life. I also love the wide scope of practice within speech-language pathology—it keeps me learning and growing every day, which is something I really enjoy. I have trainings and certifications in the following: Feeding & Swallowing: Catherine Shaker Pediatric VFSS Course, Catherine Shaker Pediatric Swallowing and Feeding Course, Joan Arvedson’s Evaluating Feeding and Swallowing Disorders in Infants & Children, Baylor Scott White FEES Course (2019), BaByVFSSImP Trained, Auditory-Verbal Methods: Carolina Summer Institute (2023): Two-month course focused on Listening and Spoken Language Therapy Voice: ILO Upper and Lower Airway Conference – University of Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt LVES Stroboscopy Course, AAC & School-Based Services: Led trainings on AAC use and modeling in school settings. I’ve worked in both school-based settings and pediatric inpatient/outpatient environments, supporting children and their families across a variety of needs. I would describe my therapy style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized, family-centric, and strengths-based.

My son LOVES working with Brenna, and I believe this has had a huge impact on his quick progression so far. He truly enjoys every lesson and, as a result, wants to be better and better in his language skills. He’s already self correcting throughout the day and really getting the hang of his ‘s’ sounds. Brenna makes the lessons so fun and engaging that he doesn’t even realize he’s putting in such hard work. So grateful for Brenna and Expressable!

Brenna is able to enhance the lessons to meet me where i am. I truly feel it is helping. I like that the homework allows me to build to a more complex reasonings. It is difficult. I enjoy that we have different levels of goals. I feel like someone finally understands. I think Brenna is the 5 stars.

We love our sessions with Brenna. She is helping my Dad to be able to speak more clearly and loudly and it is working. At my dad’s last Dr appointment he was able to speak for himself without the nurses asking “what did he say?” constantly. Thanks Brenna!
