About me

Hi! I'm Kira. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2013. In my first career as an early childhood classroom educator, I always seemed to connect more with the children who needed more support from me. I have always been fascinated by human development, specifically the development of communication. Working in collaboration with members of school special education team members inspired me to evolve my career from classroom teacher to service provider. I have taken courses in PROMPT, ADHD-RSP (PESI training course), Play-Project for ASD, Early Intervention Parent Coaching Model, ASHA Clinical Supervision courses, Social Thinking-Executive Function in Adolescents and Adults. I have taught professional development seminars for teachers on language acquisition, bilingualism, literacy and the importance of using visuals in a classroom. I have conducted webinars for parents on bilingualism and early language development. I have provided graduate level clinical supervision in a university clinic, taught graduate level diagnostic seminar and graduate level practicum course on JAPSER (A treatment approach for ASD). I worked in settings such as early intervention, school, private practice, and university clinic. I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, family-centric, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
