About me
I am a fun, intelligent, adaptive, and engaging professional who is always looking to expand my clinical repertoire and areas of expertise. I believe strongly in a person-centered treatment paradigm; clients are more than numbers, data, age ranges and skill sets to me. I believe that this is the model of the future, where functional therapy meets truly individualized care. As a result I am able to treat the “whole person”, and tailor services to meet my clients’ personalized needs! I am always up for a challenging case, and as a result have amassed a variety of clinical interests and experience, including (but never limited to): Aphasia, Articulation, Accent Modification, Autism, Cognitive-Linguistic Rehabilitation, Dementia/Memory Loss, Education (preschool-college level), Early Intervention, Gender-Affirming Voice, Language Disorders, Motor Speech Disorders, Phonological Disorders, Voice for Parkinson’s, Social Language, & Swallowing Disorders. As a highly educated professional, I prefer not to limit myself by “specializing” based on subject matter. Rather, I “specialize” in making my clients feel supported, understood, validated, valued and comfortable with expressing their communicative needs to me. In my 5 years as an SLP I have had the most success with and am most proud of my unique treatment method; when offering in-person therapy I often have a months long waiting list. That is something I am really proud of! What makes me stand out is that I believe I possess the things you cannot teach: personality and humor, warm and welcoming nature, appreciation for differences, dedication to the client’s unique needs, a desire to expand my client’s (as well as my own) mind, and last but not least, an inherent kindness/humanity that is all but extinct in the world today, much less in formal healthcare & education! I truly am a safe space, and an ally-advocate for all clients. I treat all age ranges from Birth-100+, all skill levels, and I welcome all clients. I feel that by having my door open to people from all walks and stages of life, I am able to offer much more effective and personalized therapy. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science from SUNY Cortland in 2012, and with my Master of Arts in Speech Pathology from LIU Post in 2015. I am the first author of original research presented at the American Speech Language Hearing Association’s 2015 National Convention. It’s worth mentioning that I led a team of graduate peers in researching and presenting our work in front of licensed and credentials professionals before graduating! I first became interested in speech pathology when my mom was diagnosed with MS. She had an SLP on her rehab team and I was able to see firsthand how crucial SLPs are to the rehabilitation process.
Other interests
I am fun loving, active and love to travel. I can usually be found on my Jet-ski, on the beach, or relaxing with my two American Eskimo dogs. I love adventuring and before the world turned upside-down I frequented the airport!
